WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?
What is Psychotherapy?: Services
What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a collaboration between you and a trained mental health professional. It offers treatment for mental health conditions (such as anxiety, depression, PTSD), behavioral issues that may be damaging relationships, and life stressors like divorce or grief. A therapist can help identify unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviors, and hold a safe space for clients to gain coping skills and increase well being.
Therapy Sessions
Sessions are typically held once a week for about 50 minutes. Psychotherapy can be short-term (a few sessions) dealing with immediate issues, or long-term (months or years), dealing with longstanding more complex issues. The goals of treatment and arrangements for how often and how long to meet are planned jointly by the client and therapist.
